Awakening Phoenix is a performative pilgrimage that brings together aging, legacy, and responsibility. This new work was preceded by a phase of creation, destruction, legacy, and reconstruction.

The destruction of a previous work doesn’t create an end, but a new beginning: a symbolic journey in which material decay is transformed into meaningful action.
The ashes of crushed plexiglass sculptures Fluisteraars/Whisperers are slowly and consciously returned to the source of the material. Along the way, a series of encounters, conversations, and small-scale interventions unfold with artists and institutions that reflect on what remains, what transforms, and what is passed on. The journey itself is the work: slow, attentive, and against the logic of production and accumulation.
Awakening Phoenix concludes one artistic cycle and simultaneously opens a new one. Not by clinging to permanence, but by approaching legacy as an active choice: caring for material, context, and the continued existence of art in the world.
During the journey of Awakening Phoenix, updates will be shared primarily via Instagram and Facebook.
Due to the nature of the project, a slow, physical, and often offline journey, it is not always possible to report regularly here.
Upon return, a more extensive travelogue and documentation will be added to this page.
