For the Identi-tijd exhibition of the K&C Drenthe talent development program, where Heebink mentored emerging artists as a master, she created this light box with a photograph (30 x 30 cm).
Inner Volcano reveals the relationship between the human body and the Earth’s dynamics. The body’s inner world—tension, vulnerability, recovery—is mirrored by the constant movement of the volcanic landscape: shifting layers, pressure buildup, eruption, and cooling. The work explores how both systems, human and Earth, are constantly changing and carry traces of these processes.
This approach aligns with the broader research within the ongoing project Sky Kisses Earth, in which Heebink examines the interplay between human presence and geological processes. Both projects reveal how movement, disruption, and transformation are fundamental components of both physical and landscape existence. Inner Volcano thus provides a compact, clear translation of themes explored on a larger scale in Sky Kisses Earth.
