As a visual artist, I work with crossovers of installation, video, light, sound, photography, poetry, and sculpture, where invisible things take shape and become tangible for those who enter my world.

The location often inspires a site-specific approach, seen from a poetic perspective. I prefer to work in abandoned locations, seeking out empty landscapes or deserted places. However, I also approach commissioned situations in urban or landscape contexts with my own perspective.

Exhibitions where the location served as the starting point for installations and performances have been held in the Netherlands, including Stedelijk Museum Zwolle, Kunstfort Vijfhuizen, SAFE/Dalfsen, Beeldenpark de Havixhorst/De Wijk, Perron1/Delden, Vishal/Haarlem, KiK/Nijeveen, CBK/Alphen aan den Rijn, and Kunstcentrum Diepenheim. And internationally in Poznan/Poland, Beirut/Lebanon, Kunsthalle Lingen/Germany, Haifa/Israel, and Tavira/Portugal.

Study trips to Mongolia, Mali, Morocco, Norway, Spitsbergen, Iceland, and recently to Leipzig/Germany have contributed to deepening my work.

Permanent commissions in public spaces have been realized in Groningen, Delfzijl, Vinkeveen, Mijdrecht, Leidschendam, Borsele, and Roden, among others.

As a curator, I have realized various exhibitions and projects in public spaces, including the Semslinie Kunstlijn, the Nieuw Gorkums Peil/Gorinchem master plan, and the 400th anniversary of the University of Groningen/Groningen.
And as an advisor, I have contributed to the development of policy regarding art in general and specifically in public spaces, including for the Groningen Arts Council, the Oss Spatial Quality Committee, and the Drenthe Provincial Advisory Committee for Visual Arts.

In the early 1990s, I was the initiator of the KiK Foundation and later a co-initiator of Kunstwerk Kolderveen. Through the Kuunst.NU community, I also help shape a dynamic art climate — a place where artists find space, meet one another, and ignite new energy.
